The 21net onboard connectivity solution incorporates the latest wireless and software technologies to provide train operators with maximize performance. The 21net solution architecture supports multiple connectivity technologies – satellite, cellular, high-speed wireless from trackside antennas as well as WiFi in stations and depots. It can dynamically aggregate traffic across several different technologies and carriers, adjusting throughput on each channel according to available capacity using an advanced cost-based, location-aware algorithm.

Passenger Infotainment

21net’s configurable wireless connectivity solution can be enhanced with onboard infotainment including multimedia (movies, music, etc.) and passenger information (weather, travel info., etc.). While many business passengers consider Internet access a requirement onboard, leisure passengers can use the system’s infotainment functionalities to read a newspaper, watch a movie, get breaking news or listen to music.

21net infotainment capabilities are delivered through a flexible portal solution that supports a wide range of devices, browsers and rich multimedia content. Its flexibility allows for full customization in line with NOC (network operations center) requirements and provides a highly visible platform for train operators passengers.

It is further complemented by an advanced content management and synchronization system (21net CMS) to allow for remote and automated updates of the infotainment content as well as customization and updates of the portal design and GUI.

The 21net NMS™ continuously monitors each component of the train equipment, including all communications sub-systems, WiFi, routers, servers, access points and software. Professional Services

21net delivers services related to our products. From system design to implementation, on-train maintenance and remote monitoring, 21net can meet your needs and budget.

Implementation

Our team provides technical layouts for proof of concepts and end-to-end system designs for the rollout of onboard solution. Working in conjunction with rail manufacturer and/or the train operator directly, we are designing systems that meets capacity requirements, budget and timeline.

On-train Maintenance

When trains are offline at the depot, our team provide required repairs or hardware upgrades. Software upgrades are performed in person as well, but are generally performed remotely “over the air” in order to maximize cost efficiency.

Network Operations

The management of the wireless service provided on the train’s fleet can be supervised by 21net in his global Network Operation Centre. A comprehensive alerting system notifies our supervision team of any technical problems identified in the trains 7 days per week, 2 shift monitoring and remote intervention for fault analysis and rectification.

Mentoring / Training

Our team can also train an operator’s maintenance group to become self-sufficient in first line software update delivery and basic maintenance. An off the-shelf training program for all hardware is available, along with a customized training program to meet specific operator requirements.
